Abstract
Dolca Morto is an experimental fashion line that uses world building as its design methodology, with digital design and virtual production as its means of implementation.
Dolca Morto means “sweet death” in Esperanto, it outlines a religion in a post-modern society where humans are highly protected by technology, yet a belief in death and the natural cycle emerges.
Fashion Design
The clothes of Dolca Morto, are my imagination of the ritual clothing in the virtual world building.
The design started with fashion illustration, progressing by Clo3D(A digital fashion pattern design software) and finished with the real clothing after 3 rounds of prototyping.
The design stems from futuristic armor design and religion uniform(plain color and shapes), outlining the fashion of the religion of Dolca Morto
Art Direction
I want to create space and environment similar to a church in relation to Christianity, centered around natural elements and the remnants of human civilization. This will be the ritual space for the Dolca Morto religion.
Virtual Production
With the power of real time rendering Unreal Engine 5 and LED wall, I use virtual production to build a connecting tunnel between the reality and the virtual world of Dolca Morto. Collaborating with fashion photographer Honglin Cai, we shot a series of lookbook. In the future, with a larger scale of LED screen, I would be able to film more visual and cinematics instead of just still images
